Community organization reaching out to provide the best and the brightest to new administration.
The US-India Political Action Committee (USINPAC), a bipartisan community organization, is working with key stakeholders to provide opportunities for Indian Americans to serve in the incoming Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration.
The group held a panel discussion on the transition process and how its membership can become involved with the incoming administration, USINPAC said in a media release.
“There is a lot of excitement about this new administration and USINPAC is working with key stakeholders to provide opportunities for Indian Americans who want to serve in this administration,” said USINPAC Chairman, Sanjay Puri.
Given the challenges facing America related to covid-19, the struggling economy, etc. there is a tremendous need for talented individuals, he said.
“USINPAC will be reaching out to provide the best and the brightest from our community to the Biden-Harris administration,” Puri said.
Panelists spoke about the large number of positions the Biden-Harris administration will need to fill – nearly 4,000 – and how to get young people with a passion for public service involved, the release said. They also spoke about building the community and making a commitment to public service.
“We saw unprecedented involvement from the Indian American community this election,” said panelist Amit Jani, Asian American Pacific Islander Director for Biden-Harris.
“President-elect Biden has promised that his administration will reflect the diversity of this country, including that of the South Asian and Indian American communities,” he said.
“We have Indian Americans heavily involved in the transition agency review teams. There is always someone worth liaising with,” Jani said.
Other panelists who played key roles in the Biden-Harris campaign victory included Shekar Narasimhan, Chairman & Founder, AAPI Victory Fund, Satish Korpe: Founder, Indian Americans for Biden-Harris, Steve Rao, former mayor and current council member of Morrsiville, North Carolina and Robinder Sachdev, President, Imagindia Institute
