Morphic CEO Praveen Tipirneni has joined TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Boston as a charter member. The organization, which aims to foster up-and-coming entrepreneurs, took to LinkedIn to announce and congratulate Tipirneni on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
“We’re excited to welcome Praveen Tipirneni to the TiE Boston Charter Member community!” the social media post read.
TiE Boston is a member-based organization founded in 1997 by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals of Indian origin, in order to support and encourage future innovators.
Claiming to be the world’s largest not-for-profit network dedicated to helping startups grow, TiE has reportedly reached 12,000 members across 14 countries and contributed to $250B in wealth creation.
TiE Boston offers a range of programs, including networking events, educational seminars, pitch competitions, and access to a community of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and business professionals. The chapter is part of a global network with chapters in various cities, creating an international platform for entrepreneurs to connect, share ideas, and collaborate.

Through its initiatives, TiE Boston aims to empower entrepreneurs, drive economic growth, and create long-term value for the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
As a charter member, Tipirneni will help budding entrepreneurs grow and have the opportunity to network with a community of entrepreneurs, peers, investors, and professionals who are also invested in fostering entrepreneurship. He will also be eligible to nominate himself for TiE’s Board of Directors.
“With a stellar track record, including leading Morphic Therapeutics to a $3.2 billion acquisition by Eli Lilly and serving as a non-executive director at BridgeBio, Praveen’s expertise is invaluable,” TiE Boston’s post said, highlighting Tipirneni’s vast entrepreneurial experience.

Before leading Morphic, Tipirneni served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Global Strategy at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, where he played a crucial role in the development and success of key clinical programs. His efforts were instrumental in Cubist’s acquisition by Merck in 2015.
Tipirneni’s diverse background spans roles in corporate strategy at Sun Microsystems and Covad Communications, as well as business development at Deltagen.
His academic credentials are equally impressive, with a mechanical engineering degree from MIT, an MD from McGill University, and an MBA from Wharton School of Business in healthcare finance. Additionally, he has served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
His wife, Indian American Sonali Shah, is the Chief Executive Officer of Cobalt, a leader in the Pentest as a Service (PtaaS) sector and a provider of advanced offensive security solutions.
