Linda Yaccarino has been named the CEO of eMed, a Miami-based telehealth company. This comes nearly a month after she stepped down from her role as CEO at social media platform X.
Yaccarino had departed from X after a two-year run as its CEO. While she did not give a reason for her exit, it came a year after the platform stirred up controversy by making antisemitic remarks and bringing up Hitler while responding to posts about the Texas floods. The departure was announced via an X post, which thanked Elon Musk for “entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”

eMed said in a press release that Yaccarino is arriving at a “game-changing moment” in the company’s five-year old history, which is to “make safe, effective and sustainable chronic care accessible directly through an all-in-one, digital-first experience.” The company also added that Yaccarino’s experience would be “instrumental” as it looks to accommodate more “national and global employer and government partnerships.”
“The healthcare industry has been disrupted by technology, but not yet completely transformed by it,” Yaccarino said in a press release. “There is an opportunity to combine technology, lifestyle, and data in a new powerful way through the digital channels that impact consumers directly in ways that have never been done before.”
“To be a leader in today’s healthcare marketplace, companies need to have a fearless tenacity that allows them to not only grow, but to also be brave enough to step forward and redefine an entire industry. We are very well-positioned to be that tenacious leader, striving toward our ultimate goal of improving global healthcare outcomes through our groundbreaking services and platforms,” she added.

Yaccarino has previously worked largely in the marketing, advertising, and media world, making this appointment somewhat of a departure from her usual role. Prior to joining X, Yaccarino worked in various advertising and global partnerships for NBCUniversal and Turner for several decades. She joined X — then called Twitter — in June 2023, eight months after Musk bought the platform. Her main task was to help fix the platform’s flagging advertising business, after the billionaire alienated brands with his controversial comments and changes to the platform.
eMed started out during the height of the pandemic, offering COVID-19 tests and services. However, it has since pivoted to weight loss treatments, joining WeightWatchers which recently exited bankruptcy, and is forging a similar path of selling anti-obesity drugs online.
