Udemy, a leading AI-powered skills acceleration platform has appointed Indian American executive Ramji Sundararajan as President of Consumer in a strategic move to drive intensified focus on subscription growth and AI-powered personalization across consumer offerings.
In this role, Sundararajan will oversee all aspects of Udemy’s Consumer business, including the global learning marketplace that serves millions of learners worldwide, according to a company release.
Sundararajan brings extensive experience driving growth for consumer internet, direct-to-consumer subscription services, marketplaces and e-commerce companies through new product launches, growth through acquisition, personalized engagement, partnerships and retention.
His appointment comes as Udemy continues to execute on its strategic priorities, including a focus on driving consumer subscription growth while enhancing the learning experience for both individual learners, instructors and enterprise customers, according to the release.

With more than 20 years of experience in driving transformational growth across B2C businesses, Sundararajan joins Udemy from McKinsey & Company, where he was a leader in their Consumer Technology and Business building practices.
He often stepped into interim executive roles such as Chief Product Officer and Chief Growth Officer for leading eCommerce, direct-to-consumer subscription and media companies. He has driven the growth of B2C subscription businesses across multiple geographies including U.S., EMEA, Middle East and APAC.

As an operator, he has a track record using AI powered personalization to improve engagement and growth of a video streaming platform and to improve monetization and growth of marketplaces.
Sundararajan was a founder and Chief Operating Officer at ZALORA Group, Southeast Asia’s leading fashion e-commerce platform, where he led customer experience, operations, and growth strategies across seven countries, driving significant growth in its early years.
