‘Viswaragam’, released on January 14, transforms 22 original Tamil poems into music through a historic collaboration with the legendary composer.
Sumathy Ram, an independent Indian filmmaker, Tamil-language poet, and lyricist, will release “Viswaragam,” an album she created in collaboration with illustrious music director and singer M.S. Vishwanathan, on January 14. The album has also been described as a tribute to M.S. Vishwanathan.
According to a press release, Ram met Vishwanathan twenty years ago, an encounter that planted the seed for a lifelong musical collaboration.
“This collaboration and support helped bring her poems to life,” the press release said, adding that this marked the first time Vishwanathan worked with a female lyricist—an effort that helped open doors for women in the industry.
