Landmark Properties, a dominant force in the U.S. housing market, has named Indian industry specialist Shashank Goel to spearhead its strategic entry into the senior sector.
Goel, with a decade of high stakes experience in the field, has been appointed Senior Director of U.S. Senior Housing Investment Management to navigate this new chapter.
He will lead Landmark’s efforts to bridge the gap between a rising demand for senior care and a stagnant national supply. The move represents a significant diversification for the Athens, Georgia-based firm, which currently oversees a massive $15 billion portfolio.
The decision to expand follows a period of “deliberate patience,” according to company leadership. With the senior housing sector showing resilience and a clear path toward growth following recent global economic shifts, Landmark aims to apply its vertically integrated model combining development, construction, and management to the “silver” market.

Goel’s professional pedigree is a testament to the influence of Indian American talent in global real estate finance. Before his appointment at Landmark, he held pivotal roles at Harrison Street, where he specialized in sourcing and executing senior housing deals.
His earlier career includes stints at The Carlyle Group and CS Capital Advisors, providing him with a robust foundation in asset management and investment banking.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned dual degrees in finance and accounting, Goel has long been recognized as a rising star in the industry.
He currently serves on the Future Leaders Council for the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC), underscoring his commitment to the sector’s long-term evolution.
“Senior housing represents a natural evolution of our residential focused continuum,” said Wes Rogers, Chairman and CEO of Landmark Properties. The firm plans to pursue a mix of ground up developments and strategic acquisitions, ranging from active adult communities to memory care facilities.
For Goel, the mission is about more than just numbers; it’s about intentionally aligning design and care delivery to enhance the resident experience. As he takes the helm of this expansion, his leadership marks a new era for Landmark as it transitions from housing the nation’s students to caring for its seniors.
