The Northern Virginia Technological Council (NVTC), one of the largest tech communities in the country, honored Indian American Anil Sharma as one of its 2024 Tech100 executives on Dec. 10.
The NVTC Tech100 honors top companies, entrepreneurs, executives and NextGen leaders who drive innovation, implement new solutions for customers, and contribute to the region’s economic growth every year.
Sharma, who is the CEO of 22nd Century Technologies, is an angel investor and a leader in IT solutions for over 25 years. He leads the company to deliver innovative services to federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as Fortune 500 companies. Recently, Forbes America ranked 22nd Century Technologies fifth in the “Best Employers for Tech Workers” list in 2024.
Specializing in cloud transformation, infrastructure optimization, and cybersecurity, Sharma is a pioneer in building successful startups and managing IT infrastructure. He was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2024.

“Thank you NVTC for the honor. I’m deeply honored to accept this award on behalf of our team of 6000+ men and women supporting our customers. This award is a recognition of how our team truly puts our values into action, innovating and delivering with an unrelenting focus on making a difference and solving the customers’ problems,” Sharma took to LinkedIn to share his thoughts on receiving the title.
“Our industry impact is a result of remarkable dedication, skill, and resilience of our team, and I couldn’t be prouder to lead such a passionate group of professionals,” he added.
A technocrat at heart, Sharma is also a mentor, investor, and author of two books on IT, committed to driving innovation and excellence in the industry.
Sharma holds a postgraduate degree in Computer Applications from Thappar Institute of Engineering and Technology in Punjab, India. He also serves on George Mason University’s Board of Trustees as a member, and co-founded the Indian American Business Impact Group.
Honoring the trailblazing tech companies, visionary tech executives, and NextGen champions of the tech universe, NVTC celebrated the chosen Tech100 in a ceremony at McLean, Virginia.
