It looks like President Donald Trump is going all out for the state of Pennsylvania. Trump and many leaders of the country’s largest technology and energy companies announced more than $90 billion in new investments from private companies for Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
According to CBS, Trump, who spoke for about 30 minutes during a roundtable discussion at the Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit at Carnegie Mellon University, said 20 “leading technology and energy companies” will invest in Pennsylvania to develop a new artificial intelligence economy, capitalizing on Pennsylvania’s technology and energy assets.
“We’re back in Pittsburgh to announce the largest package of investments in the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Trump said on Tuesday.

The Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, held on July 15, 2025, at Carnegie Mellon University, brought together a powerful coalition of leaders from government, industry, labor, and academia to position Pennsylvania at the forefront of the AI-driven energy revolution.
Hosted by Senator David McCormick, the event featured high-profile attendees including President Donald Trump, Governor Josh Shapiro, and executives from major tech and energy companies such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, AWS, Blackstone, and ExxonMobil.
McCormick said the investments will bring “tens of thousands of jobs” to Pennsylvania.
“Our vision for this event came from the realization about the crucial link between artificial intelligence and energy, but never before have the leaders of all those companies, as well as major investors, come together,” he said on Tuesday.
The summit saw over $90 billion in private-sector investment commitments aimed at bolstering AI infrastructure, modernizing the energy grid, and accelerating innovation across Pennsylvania. Key pledges included data center expansions, advanced natural gas facilities, and new ventures in hydroelectric and nuclear energy.
Carnegie Mellon played a central role by unveiling 29 research papers and showcasing regional innovations in robotics, energy systems, and materials science. The summit’s core themes emphasized balancing energy demands with sustainability, strengthening grid resilience, and advancing national competitiveness in AI.
While hailed as an economic game-changer promising thousands of jobs, the event also drew criticism from environmental groups over its emphasis on fossil fuel infrastructure. Nonetheless, the summit marked a bold step in redefining Pennsylvania as a national leader in AI and energy innovation.
Trump further spoke about the investments by saying that they are building a future where American workers will forge the steel, produce the energy, build the factories and really run a country like, he believes, this country has never been run before.

He went on to say that he thought that they have a true golden age for America.
However, on the other side of the aisle were critics with some genuine concerns. The advocates, who lined the streets across parts of the city, said the summit prioritizes corporate interests over sustainability and ethics.
“I do believe we should be focusing more on renewable energy, green energy. Just kowtowing to oil and gas is not the way to the future,” Zach Zourelias of Plum said. “I’m not saying get rid of it entirely. It is important for Pennsylvania, it is important for the country. But we need to be looking to the future, not the past.”
The event showcased a rare alignment between tech giants, traditional energy firms, and political leaders to address the rising energy demands of AI and data-driven systems.
