Cracker Barrel has scrapped its plan to introduce a redesigned logo after strong public criticism forced the U.S. restaurant chain to backtrack. The company stated in a social media post, “We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain.”
The company drew sharp criticism for replacing its longtime “Old Timer” character with a sleeker design. Among the detractors was President Donald Trump, who praised the decision to backtrack. “Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it,” he said, as BBC quoted.
When the chain rolled out its updated menu on Aug. 19, it also revealed a redesigned logo that dropped the familiar “Old Timer” who was a man seated in a chair beside a barrel in favor of a text-only emblem. The change quickly fueled criticism, with some accusing Cracker Barrel of turning away from the heritage that defined its brand.

Trump called on Cracker Barrel to restore its original logo and “admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before.” He added that the chain had “got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right,” urging them to “Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
As BBC quoted, the company in its statement on X announcing the reversal on Thursday, “at Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon.”
