A rare albino buffalo in Bangladesh nicknamed “Donald Trump” has been spared from ritual sacrifice after attracting widespread attention online ahead of Eid al-Adha, according to multiple media reports.
The nearly 700-kilogram buffalo became a viral sensation because of its blond forelock and pale appearance, which many social media users compared to Donald Trump.Authorities later intervened and relocated the animal to the national zoo in Dhaka following growing public interest and security concerns surrounding the animal’s popularity.

According to Reuters, the buffalo had already been sold for sacrifice as part of Eid al-Adha traditions before officials stepped in at the last moment. Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed reportedly ordered the animal to be spared and arranged compensation for the buyer.
Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said the buffalo’s nickname originated as a joke from his younger brother, who noticed similarities between the animal’s blond hair and Trump’s hairstyle. Videos and photos of the buffalo quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing visitors from across Bangladesh to see the animal in person.

Albino buffaloes are considered extremely rare in Bangladesh, where most livestock are darker. Owners said the animal required special care, including frequent feeding and multiple baths daily.
Officials said in reports the buffalo will now remain at the Bangladesh National Zoo, where authorities have introduced additional protections to manage large crowds and ensure the animal’s welfare.
The story has gained international attention as videos of the animal circulated globally during the lead-up to Eid celebrations, turning the buffalo into an unexpected social media celebrity.
