Indian American and former Google executive Sheetal Wrzesien was fatally shot at her home in Cobb County, Georgia. Her husband, Kirk B. Wrzesien, has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing, authorities said. Their adult son was also injured during the incident.
Officers with the Cobb County Police Department responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the family’s residence on Laurel Creek Trail in Smyrna, northwest of Atlanta. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found 57-year-old Sheetal Wrzesien inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested her husband Wrzesien, 56, at the residence. He has been charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Authorities have not disclosed a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The couple’s son, Jason Wrzesien, was also injured in the shooting. According to police, he was able to make it outside the home, where first responders found him before he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not released details about the extent of his injuries.
Neighbors expressed shock over the incident, describing the family as quiet and saying they had never witnessed disturbances at the residence. Joanne Anderson, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than two decades, told local media the shooting was unexpected.
Wrzesien was an experienced technology executive with more than two decades in the industry. During her career, she served as an engineering leader at Google, overseeing technology initiatives across multiple business areas. Before joining Google, she led mobile and digital transformation efforts at HomeDepot.com, helping expand the retailer’s online home décor and furnishings business. She also held senior leadership positions in the weather and financial technology sectors, specializing in mobile platforms, e-commerce, marketing technology and organizational transformation.

The tragedy has drawn attention within the Indian American and technology communities, where Wrzesien was recognized for her leadership in engineering and digital innovation.
Police have not announced whether additional charges will be filed. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while authorities have urged anyone with information to contact the Cobb County Police Department.
