BENGALURU: Spice, the Indian smartphone manufacturer, has a new offering through e-commerce website HomeShop18, which unveiled Spice Mi-549, a look-alike of iPhone 6.
Spice Mi-549 has adapted many design features of the latest iPhone 6 but, when it comes to the quality, Mi-549 fails to reach even the standard of Lenovo Sisley S90, which was an iPhone 6 clone launched last week in China.

The specification of Spice Mi-549 doesn’t offer many surprises as the company hasn’t tried to stuff too many features into the device. When compared to the other budget level smartphones the only advantage of Spice Mi-549 is its 5.5 inch full HD display.

The iPhone-inspired design of Spice Mi-549 has already attracted a lot of attention as iPhone 6 is not affordable for the middle class in India. The smartphone comes in a metal black color with what appears to be antenna bands similar to iPhone 6. Spice has not yet commented on whether these antenna bands can function or if they copy pasted it from iPhone 6 just for design perfection.
The device first appeared on an e-commerce website, HomeShop18 and is not yet available for purchase. But Spice Mi-549 has been priced at Rs. 7,999.
Other specifications of the Spice Mi-549 include:
· A 5.5 inch Full HD display
· 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of Ram
· 8 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32 GB
· 8 MP rear camera with auto focus and flash
· 2 MP Front camera
· 2200mAh battery
The new smartphone from Spice Mobiles is based on the latest of Android KitKat 4.4 operating system. The connectivity features of Spice Mi-549 include 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS.
It’s strange why HomeShop18 listed Mi-549 in such a hurry as Spice has not yet officially launched the device. Also, even before the start of sales, Spice Mi-549 is marked as out of stock, which increases the suspicion around the device.
Spice had launched their first Mozilla-based and Android One smartphones during the month of August and September, respectively.
