BENGALURU: Flipkart will begin the sale of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note smartphone on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
As per the official announcement of Xiaomi, 50,000 Redmi Note smartphones would be made available for tomorrow’s sale via their online retail partner in India, Flipkart. Only users who registered online will get a chance to own the device in the sale. Users can register in Flipkart till Monday midnight.
According to Flipkart, 5000 early birds who registered for Xiaomi Redmi Note will get the product added to their shopping cart automatically and the rest will have to manually add it to their cart, which is a race against time.
In earlier sales of Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S, people had gathered online in huge numbers to try their luck. In the first few sales, Flipkart even encountered a few server errors owing to the unprecedented traffic. But as the sale progressed in phases, the demand for the Redmi 1S smartphone decreased.
Xiaomi expects that tomorrow’s sale will once again raise interest in their smartphones as the new Redmi Note is just making its entry into the Indian market and has better technical specifications than Redmi 1S.
Ahead of the launch of Redmi Note, Xiaomi ran a Facebook contest, giving people a chance to win the smartphone.
The device is powered by an Octa-core 1.7 GHz MediaTek MTK 6592 processor and Mali 450 GPU coupled with 2 GB RAM. The device has a 5.5 inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels. The smartphone has a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front camera for clear selfies.
The device has an inbuilt storage capacity of 8 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB via external microSD card.
Xiaomi Redmi Note is backed up by a 3,100 mAh battery, sufficient enough for running the smartphone for a whole day. According to reviews from Indonesia (where the device was launched earlier), the new Xiaomi device is free from the heating issue expressed by many Mi3 and Redmi 1S users.
Like all other Xiaomi smartphones, Redmi Note also runs on the customized Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s own MIUI v5 on top, upgradable to MIUI v6.
