The post service in Sacramento has got a female postmaster after a span of 166 years and the new postmaster is an Indian American named Jagdeep Grewal.
The U.S. Postal Service said that Grewal will oversee 1,004 employees who process and deliver mail on 537 city routes and 94 rural routes – and fill nearly 20,000 post office boxes, reported Sacbee.com
Grewal started her career with the postal service as a window clerk in 1988. Five years later, she became a manager. She has also worked as a postmaster in Pacifica-Daly City.
There has been a steep decline in the usage of postal services due to the surge of Internet and privately owned courier services. Referring to this current situation, Grewal said that she looked forward to working with Sacramento’s Postal Service employees during a challenging time.
“It is only through joint effort and collaboration that we can truly meet our mission of providing extraordinary service while keeping costs down,†said Grewal in a statement.
Grewal received her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s degree in language arts from Punjab University, India.

To whom this may concern I wanted to let you know that I have never had any problems in any other locations I have lived in Sacramento all my life this location has been the only location that I’ve had things stolen from me I don’t know who else to contact …I contact the manager there Yvette she either hangs up on us or she doesn’t answer her phone I’m trying to have patience with the situation but I’m trying at the same time to contact …someone who can help me… if you could please pop up at this Oak Park 95817 office unexpectedly you will see what I’m talking about there’s rap music as you walk in very loudly and the people are very rude
The other day I had gotten an item stolen from a postman when confronted they did an investigation then the next day some came back to my home and dropped off the item in a clear plastic bag now I’ve had some jewelry stolen from the same post office 95817 I don’t know who to contact but I’m starting to want to go to the media and let them know how I’m being treated by the post office place
