Scam says ‘visa’ to be ‘endorsed’ by US Embassy in New Delhi.

NEW YORK: In a job scam targeting Indians in India who are on the lookout for lucrative employment opportunity on a cruise ship based in the United States, an employment offer is circulating around in India to applicants from the letterhead of a company that has ‘Princess Cruise Line’, ‘Princess Cruises’ stamped on it.
Princess Cruises is indeed a legitimate company, based in Santa Clarita, California, and incorporated in Bermuda. However, the company is registered as ‘Princess Cruise Lines Ltd.’, not as ‘Princess Cruise Line’, as stamped on the fake letterhead, as well as ‘Princess Cruise Company’ and ‘Princess Cruizes’ mentioned in the fake job offer letter.
Previously a subsidiary of P&O Princess Cruises, the legitimate company Princess Cruises is now one of 10 cruise ship brands owned by the world’s largest cruise ship operator, the American/British, Carnival Corporation & Plc.
The job offer letter received by The American Bazaar, which can be seen below in full, has been signed by Alan Buckelew, who is at present the chief operations officer for Carnival Corp.
Interestingly, Buckelew served as the Chief Executive Officer of Princess Cruise Lines Ltd., a subsidiary of Carnival Corp. and Carnival Corporation & Plc from June 2007 to November 2013 and its President from February 2004 to November 2013. It’s likely that the scam is over two years old, from the time Buckelew still worked for Princess Cruises.
While the corporate address on the fake letterhead gives the genuine address of the legitimate company, the telephone number is a Florida-based number, which when The American Bazaar tried to contact, turned out to be a disconnected number.
In comments over the phone to The American Bazaar, a representative in the public relations of Princess Cruises, Cynthia Lamsper, speaking from the corporate office in Santa Clarita, said the company was unaware of such a scam, going on in its name.
“I’m unaware of this, somebody else will reach out to you,†said Lamsper, as of going to press.
The fake employment letter, received by a former officer in the Indian Army, whose name has been hid and who wishes to be unidentified, has several red flags.
The fake offer letter, for the post of ‘Store Manager’ at Santa Clarita, says the salary for selected ‘expatriates’ is $7,200 per month, with plenty of benefits, and that it has been sent to the US Embassy in New Delhi for ‘visa endorsement.’
For the record, the US Embassy does not permit any private lawyer to practice from within its premises. No job offer letter can be ‘endorsed’ for a visa, too.
The letter also says that the company has a lawyer ‘Barrister Michael Evans’ who is stationed within the US Embassy in New Delhi, and the applicant has to ‘humble yourself to the representative Barrister Michael Evans’, ‘respect him and follow his instructions to get visa’. The letter also says that the company will pay for 60% of the flight cost, with the rest to be borne by the applicant. He also has to be report for duty by ‘30th June, 2016’ (another red flag, since in the US, unlike India, the month comes before the date).
In other words, the letter is encouraging the applicant to give whatever money the fake barrister demands, for visa, flight, and other costs, and be scammed. The e-mail address given for the ‘barrister’ is michaelevansj@yandex.com
Yandex is a Russian Internet based company so it’s likely the scam has some Russian connection too, or is emanating from the former Soviet Union.

I have also got a random call from princess cruises hiring manager . He said if u want to join you have to fill the joining form , after that they demanded for 300USD , then he create his own website or what i dont know . And again and again he said you visa was in this country you have to pay to get out of immigration . Again he did the same thing . And after all of this he send me a US visa .

I have fallen in to the same situation , I got job offer from princcess Cruise line. And they even sent me offer letter along with visa application forms it seems like fake to me and asked me to pay 500$ as a registration fee by david waltlon. He’s using USA SIM card when I send voice messages he never replied me the same only text messages. Again I called him he’s not answering so that these people are trying to cheat us. it seems to be a fake, be aware after a brief conversation on email, i realised that it was fake. i had shown the post in face book that his company is mentioned as a fake and the representative of the company said it is a different consultancy and not related. he continued to plead that his is genuine and asked me to send my resume and he did not reply when i asked about any fee involved. he continued to pretend as if he was trustworthy.
