A day of big ideas in AI, quantum computing, biotech, and medtech at the heart of Maryland’s innovation ecosystem.
The American Bazaar will host the next edition of its signature event, Startup Bazaar, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on April 12, 2025.
The conference, held in partnership with the Smith School’s Dingman-Lamone Center for Entrepreneurship, will spotlight advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biosciences, and medical technology. The event aims to unite entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and industry leaders to explore groundbreaking innovations shaping the future.
Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller will deliver the keynote address. With a background in civil and transportation engineering, Miller has been a vocal advocate for STEM education and technological innovation. Her remarks at the University of Pennsylvania in October 2024 emphasized Maryland’s commitment to leading in responsible AI use and enhancing public services through technology.

The Startup Bazaar will also feature two secretaries from the Maryland state government — Dr. Sanjay Rai, Secretary of Higher Education, and Atif Chaudry, Secretary of the Department of General Services, and Prabhudev Konana, the dean of Robert H. Smith School of Business. Their collective insights are expected to provide valuable perspectives on the intersection of policy, education, and technological advancement.
The event will also feature engaging panel discussions and a showcase of emerging startups leading the way in AI and biotech from Maryland, the Greater Washington, D.C., area, and beyond. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with founders, venture capitalists, and industry executives, fostering a collaborative environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The American Bazaar’s Startup Bazaar series has a history of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. A recent edition at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond featured seasoned venture capitalists, industry leaders, and CEOs, offering early-stage entrepreneurs and students an immersive experience in the startup ecosystem.
This is the second consecutive year that Startup Bazaar is being held at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
