President Donald Trump continues to raise eyebrows and spark outrage, especially so with his latest move. Just 11 days after Trump hosted a $1 million dollar dinner for the MAGA Inc Super PAC, he kicked it up another notch in May with a $1.5 million-per-plate dinner at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.
Why he was hosting such a lavish affair is still anyone’s guess, but his co-host for the evening was David Sacks, the White House AI and crypto czar who has been working with lawmakers on regulations for digital assets. At a glance such an event does seem problematic for the controversial leader, which has not gone unnoticed by his critics.

“Tonight, Mr. Sacks is co-hosting a $1.5 million-a-head dinner for crypto industry players to raise money for a Trump-aligned super PAC,” wrote Warren in a letter to the United States Office of Government Ethics. “Meanwhile, Mr. Sacks is financially invested in the crypto industry, positioning him to potentially profit from the crypto policy changes he makes at the White House.”
Who is David Sacks?
David Sacks is a South African-born American entrepreneur, investor, and political figure, known for his influential roles in Silicon Valley. He was a key member of the “PayPal Mafia,” where he served as the company’s first product leader and later COO. Sacks founded the social networking platform Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft for $1.2 billion in 2012. He also co-founded Craft Ventures, a venture capital firm, and has been involved in several other tech ventures, including Zenefits and Callin.
In 2024, Sacks was appointed by President Donald Trump as the White House AI and cryptocurrency czar, tasked with developing regulations for these industries. He is also known for co-hosting the “All-In Podcast,” which covers tech, politics, and culture, often with a conservative viewpoint. Sacks’ career has made him a prominent figure in both tech and political circles.
