President Donald Trump seems to be getting behind small businesses if his plans at the National Small Business Week are to be believed.
According to a White House press release, during National Small Business Week, President Trump will be celebrating the vital role small businesses will be playing in America’s economy. With 33 million small businesses employing 61.7 million Americans, these enterprises will be continuing to create nearly two-thirds of new jobs. Despite facing challenges like high inflation, federal spending, and burdensome regulations, small business owners will be remaining resilient and will be committing themselves to their communities.

The president will be highlighting the impact of unfair global trade practices, as foreign competitors will be flooding the U.S. market with cheap goods while shutting out quality American products. His administration will be addressing this by implementing targeted tariffs to protect American businesses and will be strengthening supply chains. Trump will be emphasizing his commitment to pro-growth policies, including cutting red tape, keeping taxes low, and promoting fair trade practices.
Trump has backed up his words by imposing heavy and at times detrimental tariffs against global trade partners in an effort to bring manufacturing back to the United States.
The release adds that the Made in America Manufacturing Initiative will be creating jobs, securing supply chains, and reducing regulatory burdens. The administration will be empowering small businesses to focus on growth and innovation. President Trump will be underscoring the importance of entrepreneurship and will be calling for continued support to raise wages and create opportunities. He will be proclaiming May 4–10, 2025, as National Small Business Week, urging all Americans to recognize the contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Trump has been aggressive in his efforts to hobble the global market in an effort to strongarm manufacturers and businesses to return to U.S. shores, and it does not seem like he will be giving up just yet. Though the White House highlighted the jobs that could potentially be created by small businesses, it still needs to be seen if Trump will actually be able to make it happen.
