Palo Alto Networks will migrate key internal workloads to Google Cloud as part of a multibillion-dollar deal announced by the companies on Friday. The companies said the deal is an expansion of their existing strategic partnership and will deepen their engineering collaboration.
Palo Alto now uses Google Gemini’s artificial intelligence models for its copilots. It also uses Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, according to a release.
“Every board is asking how to harness AI’s power without exposing the business to new threats,” BJ Jenkins, president of Palo Alto Networks, said in a statement. “This partnership answers that question.” Meanwhile, Matt Renner, chief revenue officer for Google Cloud, said “AI has spawned a tremendous amount of demand for security.”

Palo Alto Networks offers a range of cybersecurity products, and already has more than 75 joint integrations with Google Cloud. It has completed $2 billion in sales through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
With the new phase of the partnership, Palo Alto Networks customers will be able to protect live AI workloads and data on Google Cloud, maintain security policies, accelerate Google Cloud adoption and simplify and unify their security solutions, according to the companies.
Palo Alto Networks said in its press release that its State of Cloud Report released in December 2025 found that customers are dramatically expanding their use of cloud infrastructure to support new AI applications and services.
The company noted that 99% of respondents experienced at least one attack on their AI infrastructure over the last year. According to the release, the partnership aims to tackle these issues head-on through an enhanced go-to-market strategy and by building security into every layer of hybrid multicloud infrastructure, every application development stage and every endpoint, and allowing businesses to innovate with the most advanced AI while protecting their IP and data in the cloud.

The release said the new phase of the partnership will deliver end-to-end AI security from code to cloud, AI-driven, next-generation software firewall (SWFW), AI-driven secure access service edge (SASE) platform, and a simplified and unified security experience.
Both Google and Palo Alto have invested heavily into security software as enterprises seek to adopt AI. Some of these investments include Google’s $32 billion acquisition of security firm Wiz–which is pending regulatory approval.
Palo Alto launched AI-driven offerings in October and announced plans to buy software company Chronosphere for $3.35 billion last month. Renner said the new deal is the latest showcase of Google Cloud’s advantageous positioning as AI reshapes the competitive landscape against hyperscaler rivals Amazon and Microsoft.
