Indian American AI technology leader Gautam Barai has joined Knack RCM as Chief Executive Officer marking a pivotal leadership transition for the healthcare services platform focused on leveraging AI-driven automation.
In his new role, Barai will steer Knack RCM’s strategic vision as it strengthens technology-enabled solutions aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, and outcomes across the healthcare delivery ecosystem, New Jersey-based healthcare group announced.
He brings more than two decades of experience in scaling AI-led businesses and driving enterprise transformation leveraging technology and operations to the Carlyle portfolio company dedicated to transforming revenue cycle management in the healthcare sector.
“My mission is to empower healthcare providers to focus on delivering high-quality patient care by optimizing operational performance and driving profitability,” said Barai.

Prior to joining Knack RCM, Gautam was Chief Operating Officer at WNS, a public listed company on NYSE, where he led the industry verticals and horizontals, sales, account management, marketing, global operations across all delivery locations, technology and analytics spanning more than 60,000 colleagues across 15 countries.
He was also Founder at Novareté, an IT-enabled BPM platform serving healthcare, insurance, and BFSI segments, backed by Hillhouse Investment. His career also includes senior leadership roles at Bank of America and Countrywide Financial Corporation, where he drove large-scale transformation through robust operating models.
Barai has an MBA from Columbia Business School and London Business School and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
