Indian American Akash Singhania has spoken out after being wrongly accused by YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy in a viral sting video that quickly drew attention online. The incident, which unfolded in California, led to serious allegations that were later acknowledged as a mistake.
In a detailed statement shared on X, Singhania described the personal toll of the episode. “My world was turned upside down this weekend,” he wrote.
“As some of you may have seen, I was featured on a recent episode of Vitaly Zdorovetskiy’s live series, where I was wrongfully portrayed as someone attempting to engage in an inappropriate conduct. This accusation is completely false.”
He added that the situation was later clarified by both the YouTuber and law enforcement. “Since then, Vitaly has publicly acknowledged, through both written and video statements, that this was a mistake. Additionally, the officers from the Santa Ana Police Department, who I called to the scene, conducted their own assessment and confirmed that I am innocent of any wrongdoing.”

Singhania also thanked the officers involved. “I am sincerely grateful to Officers Renald Galstian, Lorenzo Sanchez, and Joanna Hatziefstratiou for their professionalism and for taking the time to carefully evaluate the situation and establish the truth.”
According to accounts from the scene, the confrontation began when Zdorovetskiy and his team approached Singhania in a neighborhood, accusing him of inviting a 16-year-old girl on a date. The claim was based on alleged Snapchat messages presented during the sting. Videos show Singhania repeatedly denying the accusations and urging the group to verify the messages. “I am not trying to fight this, I am not a violent person,” he said, while explaining that he believed the person he was meeting was 18.
Despite his denials, the accusations continued. During the exchange, Zdorovetskiy said, “You are one of those tech Indians, smart ones huh,” and suggested that Singhania might have been operating multiple Snapchat accounts. The video also shows the YouTuber making remarks that described as racist.
The situation escalated until Singhania called the police. Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department arrived and assessed the situation. Reiterating their findings, Singhania said they “confirmed that I am innocent of any wrongdoing.”

Reflecting on the aftermath, he highlighted the damage caused by the false accusation. “While I appreciate that the mistake has been acknowledged, the impact of the false accusation has been significant. I have experienced harassment, judgment, and damage to my personal and professional relationships based on something that has now been proven false.”
He also struck a broader note on accountability. “I wholeheartedly support efforts to expose real wrongdoing and protect the vulnerable. At the same time, this experience has shown me how important due process and verification are because mistakes, when made publicly, can have serious consequences on innocent lives.”
After the backlash, Zdorovetskiy issued a public apology on social media. He wrote on X: “…my team and I mistakenly portrayed Akash Singhania as a child predator. This was a mistake I deeply regret.” He also clarified that, “I have removed the video from all my accounts and I ask that anyone who has saved it please do the same.”
The post has already received 2.2 million views. And many users are asking Singhania to sue Vitaly Zdorovetskiy.
