The latest Best Bites 2026 U.S. Restaurant Brand Rankings by YouGov revealed which brands offer diners the best quality for their money. Southern fast-food chain Chick-fil-A took the top spot, while Jersey Mike’s, Wendy’s, Firehouse Subs, and In-N-Out were in the top five.
According to Southern Living, regular customers are looking for value, discounts, and a clean dining area. While viral trends and tempting deals may draw in customers from time to time, Chick-fil-A has been praised for its consistent quality.
“Chick-fil-A is almost always fantastic no matter where you are,” said an anonymous female aged 35-49 interviewed for the study. “The worst problem you ever have is the long line and that just tells you that everyone else wants to eat there too, so you know you’re at the right place.”

Across all generations, Americans are three to four times more likely to have a positive impression of Chick-fil-A than a negative one, according to reports. Gen Z respondents reported the highest positive sentiment at 47 percent and the lowest negative sentiment at 11 percent.
While Chick-fil-A was praised for its quality, the brand had also faced criticism for its leaders’ political and religious stance in the past, “Restaurants occupy a unique place in Americans’ daily lives. But in an increasingly competitive dining landscape, understanding which brands stand out has never been more important,” said Ashley Brown, senior director of YouGov, in the report. “We also examine one of the most enduring questions in American dining: which brands consumers believe do certain foods best. From burgers and sandwiches to tacos, ice cream, and coffee, the report highlights the brands that stand out in the minds of U.S. diners.”
