A heated back-and-forth on X has put Texas-based commentator Sara Gonzales in the spotlight again, this time over immigration, jobs, and Indian professionals in the U.S.
It started when Gonzales posted a strongly worded message drawing a comparison between her family’s military background and what she alleged about Indian workers in the tech industry. She wrote:
“My grandfather received a Purple Heart for his military service in World War II.

Indians are coming in with fake credentials as software engineers and scamming Americans out of jobs.
There is no comparison. Scammers can’t comprehend that there are people who come here legally and do things the right way. Epic levels of projection.”
Her remarks quickly drew pushback, including from a user named Priya, presumably Indian American, who responded with data points highlighting the economic contributions of immigrants. She shared screenshots pointing to trillions paid in taxes and a bar chart showing that Indian American median household income stands at $100,500. The post also noted that around 70% of Indian Americans hold a bachelor’s degree, compared to the U.S. average of 28%.

Alongside those figures, Priya wrote:
“The majority of Indians immigrants are LEGAL.
You don’t research anything but post lies and hatred.
I love Hispanics, they are good, nothing against them I just don’t like you.”
Gonzales pushed back again, accusing her critic of misrepresenting the issue. She replied:
“Don’t be intellectually dishonest, Priya.
The majority of Indian immigrants are ABUSING and EXPLOITING the legal immigration system.
That’s the entire point.”
In another comment, Gonzales added: “I was born and raised here. This is my country.”
The exchange comes at a time when Gonzales has been making headlines for her claims around immigration practices. She recently said that the U.S. Department of Justice took action against a company she had highlighted earlier this year. According to her posts, the agency fined Compunnel $313,000 after a job advertisement allegedly specified “H-1B visa only.”

Earlier, Gonzales also drew attention online after visiting a food truck in Dallas called Golconda Express. In a video titled “H-1B Busted Running a Food Truck,” she is seen questioning a man she claims was in the U.S. on an H-1B visa while operating the business under his wife’s name.
The debate unfolding online reflects broader tensions around immigration, skilled worker visas, and the role of foreign professionals in the American workforce, issues that continue to spark sharp and often polarizing reactions across social media.
