X user Eric Daugherty has drawn attention for his response to Representative Ilhan Omar’s remarks on racism amid a fraud investigation. “WTF?! Somali fraud Rep. Ilhan Omar is now accusing ANYONE investigating her for fraud as “RACIST” “It truly is [straight racism]!” House Republicans said they’d EXPEL her if marriage and immigration fraud is proven. SUBPOENA NOW, EXPEL, AND DEPORT! Get rid of the pirate from our nation!” Daugherty said in his post.
The post also included a clip of Omar saying “Nothing is even remotely close to the narrative they have about Somalis, our origins and how we got here, or even our numbers, which is fascinating.” “So it is more straight racism than anything else,” the woman she was talking to said, to which Omar said “it really truly is.”
This comes amid allegations that some Minnesota businesses, including those run by people of Somali descent, have fraudulently used federal funding – accusations that have been the subject of a federal investigation and a Congressional hearing last month.
The Trump administration had cited the allegations of fraud as justification for sending thousands of immigration agents into Minneapolis, St. Paul and Minnesota at large earlier this year, which spawned intense protests, especially following the killings of two U.S. citizens.
Daugherty, who according to his bio, is Chief Content Officer at conservative publication Right Line news had previously targeted Omar, claiming that she faces a deadline to submit documents to a state committee reviewing a $250 million fraud case linked to a nonprofit organization. The tweet quickly gained traction, amplifying scrutiny around an already high-profile investigation.

“Omar is tied to a $250 MILLION Feeding Our Future fraud scheme,” the post stated. The claim concerns an ongoing case involving Feeding Our Future, where prosecutors allege that funds meant for child nutrition programs were misused. Authorities have charged multiple individuals in connection with the scheme, which prosecutors say involved falsified meal counts and diverted federal funds. However, no formal charges against Ilhan Omar have been publicly confirmed in connection with the case.
“Omar’s name appeared 6 TIMES in court documents from the case as she reportedly communicated with the founder of feeding our future,” he added. This assertion reflects references made in legal filings, which do not automatically indicate wrongdoing.
Ilhan Omar has not publicly responded to the specific claims in the post. Her office has previously denied wrongdoing in unrelated matters and emphasized compliance with legal and ethical standards.
