Texas-based strategic holding and operating company Artius Global Group has appointed Indian American technocrat Dr. Chet Rao as the new interim chief executive officer of its portfolio company, artius.iD.
The appointment transitions Rao into the interim leadership position from his current role as a general partner and executive in residence with the parent firm. He will report directly to Dr. Michael Frederick Marcotte, the chief executive officer of Artius Global Group moving forward.
Rao brings more than two decades of industry experience spanning consumer products, health care, strategic transactions, and mergers and acquisitions to the role.
The appointment aligns with a broader strategy to anchor portfolio companies with veteran executives during decisive growth periods, according to a company statement. Artius.iD possesses the necessary technology and market positioning, and now has the executive leadership required to succeed, it stated.

Marcotte called Rao the right executive for the mission, noting that his mandate focuses on stabilizing operations, executing core strategies, driving expansion, and delivering measurable value for company shareholders.
Marcotte explains that Rao provides a combination of technical expertise, operational discipline, and transaction capabilities to the firm. Rao has a professional track record of executing strategic transactions on both the buy and sell sides, with completed deal values ranging from $5 million to $500 million.
His previous leadership background includes roles across Fortune 200 companies and large health care institutions, including positions at Hormel Foods and the Mayo Clinic. He also formerly served as the president of On The M.A.R.C., a business consulting and services company based in Austin.
Rao is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He later earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
