The Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF), widely regarded as one of the world’s leading literary gatherings, is expanding its international footprint with a debut edition in Los Angeles. It will bring together writers, artists, policymakers, and cultural leaders for a celebration of books, ideas, and dialogue.
The Los Angeles event marks the latest addition to JLF’s growing international network, which spans North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and the Middle East. Organizers say the festival aims to blend South Asia’s rich literary traditions with the cultural character of its host cities.

Produced by Teamwork Arts, the festival has evolved from its origins in Jaipur, Rajasthan, into a global platform for conversations on literature, politics, culture, technology, history, and the arts. Teamwork Arts says it produces more than 30 festivals annually across multiple countries and has helped position JLF as a major international cultural brand.
According to festival organizers, the Los Angeles edition will feature discussions spanning literature, geopolitics, art, music, and contemporary global issues while fostering dialogue between South Asian voices and broader international audiences. The event is expected to attract authors, academics, public intellectuals, and members of the Indian American community.

The expansion reflects JLF’s growing influence beyond India. Founded in 2006 by Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, the festival has become one of the world’s largest literary events, drawing hundreds of speakers and thousands of attendees annually.
Organizers say the Los Angeles edition will continue JLF’s mission of promoting dialogue across cultures, disciplines, and generations while strengthening literary and cultural ties between India and the United States.
