Republican Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is focusing on a list of proposals he says would help reduce costs for Ohio residents such as energy production, property taxes and government efficiency.
In a recent campaign video shared on social media, Ramaswamy talked about what he described as “basic things” he would pursue to bring down costs in the state. Among the measures he cited were increasing energy production to lower electric bills and rolling back property taxes.
The video is part of Ramaswamy’s broader campaign message focused on affordability and economic opportunity. His campaign has promoted policies aimed at lowering costs for families and businesses while encouraging economic growth across Ohio.

“Basic things I’ll do in Ohio to bring down costs quickly: produce more energy to reduce electric bills, roll back property taxes, permit more home construction, & crush Medicaid fraud while putting savings in the pockets of law-abiding Ohioans,” he wrote on X, captioning the video.
Ramaswamy did not provide detailed policy mechanisms or cost estimates for the proposals he mentioned in the X post. But instead, he presented them as actions he believes could be implemented quickly to address household expenses. The post specifically referenced producing more energy to reduce electric bills and rolling back property taxes.
Ramaswamy also emphasized Medicaid fraud as one of the main reasons why the state has high healthcare costs. He argued that stronger efforts to identify and prosecute fraud within the Medicaid system could help save taxpayer money. The issue was mentioned as part of a broader push to improve government efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
Affordability has become a central theme of Ramaswamy’s gubernatorial campaign. He has repeatedly argued that lowering costs and expanding economic opportunities should be priorities for state government.

Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati native and entrepreneur, entered the Ohio governor’s race after his 2024 presidential campaign. Since launching his gubernatorial bid, he has focused on issues including economic growth, education, government reform and energy policy.
The Ohio governor’s race is expected to attract national attention as candidates compete to succeed term-limited Governor Mike DeWine. Ramaswamy has made affordability as a central part of his campaign message, arguing that a combination of increased energy production, lower tax burdens and reduced government waste could help improve the state’s economic outlook.
The social media video offers a detailed overview of those priorities as Ramaswamy continues campaigning ahead of the November election. While the proposals outlined in the clip remain vague, they showcase his focus on addressing costs that affect Ohio households, including utility bills, property taxes and government spending.
