Air India will operate non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto from Aug. 1, removing the en route fuel stop and deploying its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route as part of an upgrade to its long-haul services.
The change is expected to reduce the journey time by nearly three hours. The Delhi-Toronto flight will take about 17 hours, compared with roughly 20 hours under the current schedule, which includes a fuel stop in Vienna.
The airline will also restore daily service on the route from Aug. 1, increasing the frequency from the current five flights a week. The service had been temporarily reduced during June and July amid higher fuel prices and geopolitical developments affecting airline operations.
The Toronto-Delhi service will continue to operate non-stop, with a flight time of up to 16 hours.
The route will be operated with Air India’s newly delivered Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins. The aircraft has 30 Business Class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats.

The introduction of Premium Economy will give passengers travelling between India and Canada a new cabin option on the route.
The Business Class suites feature direct aisle access, fully flat beds, wireless charging, personal storage and 17-inch 4K entertainment screens. Premium Economy passengers will have access to seats in a 2-3-2 configuration with additional legroom, recline and adjustable headrests, along with 13.3-inch entertainment screens.
Economy Class seats will feature 11.6-inch entertainment screens and integrated personal device holders.
Across the cabins, the aircraft will offer an inflight entertainment system with more than 3,000 hours of content, Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, AC power outlets and high-definition touchscreens.
Air India is also introducing updated cabin lighting, revised menus featuring Indian and international cuisine, new tableware, bedding and amenity kits as part of the onboard product upgrade.
Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said deploying the Boeing 787-9 on the Delhi-Toronto route is part of the airline’s ongoing fleet and product upgrades while strengthening connectivity between India and Canada.

From Aug. 1, flight AI187 will depart Delhi at 1:45 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at 9:30 a.m. Flight AI188 will depart Toronto at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Delhi at 2:05 p.m. the following day. All timings are local.
The move is expected to benefit passengers travelling between India and Canada by providing a faster non-stop journey and an upgraded onboard experience, while restoring daily connectivity between Delhi and Toronto.
