Stratum Industries co-founder Raj Jagiasi announced via a LinkedIn post the launch of the startup, which has been created to clear the backlog of the U.S. government.
According to Y Combinator which backs the startup, Stratum builds AI agents that clear the U.S. government backlog. Every permit, license, patent, drug approval, and benefits claim in America has to be reviewed by a government adjudicator and millions of applications are stuck in queues. This includes veterans waiting on disability ratings, families waiting on pensions, builders waiting years to break ground.
“Right now 853,000 Americans are waiting on a disability decision. 777,000 patent applications sit unexamined. 221,800 bridges need repair, and not one gets touched until the paperwork clears. The government wants to move faster. It just doesn’t have the software to do it. The tools people open every morning to file and review millions of applications were built before AI existed,” Jagiasi said in his LinkedIn post.

Stratum functions as a platform that reviews applications in seconds. Hundreds of AI agents run in parallel with a human in the loop for this function. An entire backlog cleared in the time it used to take to review a single file, according to Jagiasi.
“We’re completely changing the way the U.S. Government operates, and clearing backlogs is just step 1. We’re making the American government one of the most AI-run organizations ever.
This is the work of the next century, and we’re just getting started,” Jagiasi said.
Stratum was founded by brothers Vihaan and Raj Jagiasi. Vihaan Jagiasi was a founding engineer at Cadastral (acquired by Legora) and dropped out of Waterloo to build Stratum. Raj led GTM at Deel, averaging 220% of quota over two years and ranking top 5 of 1,000+ reps globally, and dropped out of grad school at the University of Bath to build Stratum.

“In a couple of years, dealing with the government should feel as frictionless as booking an Uber or paying with Apple Pay. You’ll have your own set of Stratum agents, and the government will have theirs,” the founders say. “If you need a permit, a license, or a claim, you just tell your Stratum agent what you need. It handles the rest. It knows everything about you, your situation, what you need, and why, so it fills out the application and sends it to the government. On the other side, the government’s Stratum agents read and review the whole thing. If they need anything else, they come back to your agent and ask, and the two of them settle it between themselves. The government makes the call, approval or rejection, and it comes back to you the same day, in a couple of minutes. No waiting days, weeks, or months.”
