X user Katie Miller posted court documents related to Ann Altman’s allegations against her brother OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, saying “In a new court filing, Sam Altman’s sister admits she suffers from PTSD ‘as a direct and proximate result of Sam Altman sexually abusing her as a child.’ This is the same guy asking you to trust him with super intelligence.”
Ann Altman (who’s also referred to as Annie Altman in some reports) had filed a lawsuit in April, alleging sexual abuse that took place more than two decades ago. In the filing, she alleged that Sam Altman sexually abused and raped her on multiple occasions between 1997 and 2006 at their family home in Clayton, Missouri. She claimed the abuse began when she was three years old, and when he was 12. He is now 41.

In a court response tied to the January 2025 case, Sam Altman denied the allegations, calling them false. He also questioned his sister’s mental health and described the lawsuit as an attempt at extortion.
According to filing attached to Miller’s X post, Ann Altman admitted Sam Altman and their mother Connie Gibstine provided her with financial support years ago “while also attempting to micro-manage her career choices, in a series of acts or omissions which intruded on her autonomy, her agency, and her free will, actions which depict a clear pattern of control.”
She denied being mentally ill but revealed she had been diagnosed with current and likely prospective PTSD “as a direct and proximate result of Sam Altman sexually abusing her as a child as part of his ‘campaign’ to control and dominate a younger sibling he likely deemed as ‘less intelligent.’”

According to reports, Ann Altman is scheduled to sit for a deposition on Aug. 17. That deposition follows Sam Altman’s recent attempt to get a judge to force the case forward. In July, his attorneys accused Ann Altman—who is representing herself—of failing to provide requested documents, schedule a deposition or arrange an independent medical examination. His filing in response stated that Sam Altman “is eager to defend himself against the baseless claims” and argued that the delays were preventing him from mounting his defense
While a judge had found Ann Altman’s claims to be filed too late, she was permitted her to amend the complaint under Missouri’s childhood sexual abuse statute. Sam Altman is also countersuing his sister for defamation, seeking $1 in damages and disputing allegations she has made both in court and publicly. He was also backed by members of his family.
