YouTuber Chris Sails was arrested in Texas after authorities accused him of giving police false information about his children, leading officers and emergency crews to launch a search and rescue operation.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the incident began on Aug. 16 when the Waller County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a suspicious person allegedly running through the area and jumping onto residents’ vehicles.
When a sheriff’s deputy arrived, authorities said they found Sails sitting in the roadway near a light pole. The officer reportedly described him as appearing to be praying at the time. According to the documents, his behavior became more unusual moments later when he allegedly began rolling around in the street.
The deputy then spoke with Sails about what was happening. During that interaction, authorities allege that Sails told officers that his children had fallen into a body of water located behind his home.

The statement immediately prompted a response from emergency personnel. Authorities treated the situation as a potential water rescue and began searching for the children.
The search involved multiple resources, including fire department vehicles, search and rescue boats, specialized sonar equipment and aerial drones. The deployment of those resources came as authorities worked to determine whether the children were actually in the water and whether they needed to be rescued.
The search was ultimately stopped after officers discovered that the children were not in danger. According to the court documents, the children were safe and were with family members.
Authorities then accused Sails of knowingly providing false information to law enforcement. Rather than treating the incident as an emergency involving missing or endangered children, investigators determined that the information he allegedly provided had been false.

Sails was arrested on Aug. 17, one day after the incident. He was booked on a misdemeanor charge of knowingly making a false statement to law enforcement.
He was released from custody the following day after posting bond.
The case has drawn attention because the alleged statement resulted in a significant emergency response, with multiple agencies and specialized equipment being used to search for children who authorities later determined were safe with relatives.
The allegations are contained in court documents, and an arrest or criminal charge does not establish guilt. Sails will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations as the legal case moves forward.
