An Indian man from Hyderabad has died at his home in the United States under circumstances that remain unclear. Mohammed Jaber Hussain, 28, was reportedly found dead inside his room at his home in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he worked as a civil engineer. The incident occurred just 17 days after his marriage.
According to initial reports, Hussain’s family has sought assistance from the Indian government to bring his remains back to India. The family said they belong to an economically weaker section and may face difficulties arranging the repatriation of Hussain’s remains to Hyderabad.
Majlis Bachao Tehreek spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan posted a letter from Hussain’s father to Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on X, urging him to ask the concerned Indian mission to coordinate with local authorities in the U.S. and assist the family in completing the required formalities to transport the remains.

Hussain’s father, Mohammed Zakir Hussain, said his son got married on Aug. 28 in Texas and later returned to Massachusetts, where he lived and worked. It is unclear whether his wife accompanied him.
Hussain last spoke to his family on Sept. 14. Eight hours later, his family received a call from his roommate, who said Hussain had died in his sleep. It is unclear whether he received medical assistance after the incident. His family is still awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination.
“At this hour of unimaginable grief, the family needs the support of the Government of India. I sincerely hope for your immediate humanitarian intervention to bring Jaber home to his family without any further delay,” Khan wrote in a post on X.
Hussain moved to the U.S. in 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in civil engineering at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. According to his LinkedIn profile, he completed his degree in 2023 and joined a firm called Estimator as an intern.

He later worked at Green International Affiliates Inc. before switching jobs in June this year. At the time of his death, he was working at Lochner, a Massachusetts-based firm.
Hussain’s death comes a month after another student from Hyderabad, Sai Pradeep, died in the U.S. amid struggles related to his job search. Pradeep, a native of Dammiguda, had moved to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Pradeep’s friends and family said he had been struggling to find a job for about four months and was under considerable stress. He was reported dead on Aug. 21.
