Snap Inc. has introduced SPECS Intelligence, an AI service designed to anticipate what users may need and provide relevant information or actions without waiting for users to issue a prompt. It is designed as a tool that “helps you manage what needs attention today, so you can make progress toward your longer-term goals.”
The company said the new service is designed to work across iPhone, Mac and its upcoming SPECS augmented reality (AR) glasses. Rather than functioning solely as a chatbot that responds to questions, SPECS Intelligence will understand users’ goals, priorities, relationships and routines through the apps and tools they choose to connect.
Snap Inc. said the system can use this personal context across devices and deepen its understanding over time. For instance, before a meeting, it could highlight important decisions, questions and reminders. Before a trip, it could bring together flights, hotels and even dinner reservations while also flagging a work deadline that falls during the trip.

SPECS Intelligence also has features called Corners and Goals. Corners are designed to organize different parts of a user’s life, such as work and family, while Goals would allow users to establish and track long-term objectives. These features are intended to connect everyday tasks with broader priorities.
Snap Inc. co-founder and CEO said, “Computers should fit into our lives, not the other way around. SPECS Intelligence is designed to help you spend less time managing your life and more time living it.”
SPECS Intelligence is powered by a proprietary combination of open-source models hosted in the U.S., alongside local large language models (LLMs). The company said, “Personal content from connected accounts will not be used to train or fine-tune Snap’s AI models, or to serve personalized ads.”
The company said users decide which accounts and information the service can access. The system uses on-device processing alongside secure cloud infrastructure, with security measures applied wherever data is processed.

SPECS Intelligence will initially be available through an invitation-only early-access program on Mac. Users can join the waitlist through Snap’s SPECS website or app.
At the same time, anyone age 18 and older in the U.S. can access an iOS preview without an invitation. Users can receive insights based on information from Gmail and Google Calendar by connecting their Google account. However, the mobile preview is more limited than the full service.
The $2,195 SPECS augmented reality (AR) glasses will be available this fall and will include Snap’s new AI assistant. Users can try Snap’s first pair of AR glasses at a pop-up in Los Angeles in October.
Snap also unveiled “Specs for Enterprise,” which will allow the glasses to be integrated into workplace operations. The program is supported by technology companies including Amazon, Nvidia and Salesforce. A demonstration showed an IT technician using the glasses while repairing hardware.
