The Warren B. Nelms Institute for the Connected World at the University of Florida has appointed Baibhab Chatterjee as a Nelms Rising Star Professor, recognizing his early-career contributions to advanced electronics and internet of things technology.
An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay alumnus, Dr. Chatterjee specializes in energy-efficient and secure analog, radio frequency, and mixed-signal circuits and systems for biomedical and internet of things applications.
His academic trajectory is deeply anchored in his Indian roots and formative engineering education. He completed his Bachelor of Technology degree at the National Institute of Technology in Durgapur, India, in 2011 and subsequently earned his Master of Technology degree from the IIT Bombay in 2015.

Carrying these strong technical foundations abroad, Dr. Chatterjee pursued further doctoral research in the United States, where he earned his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 2022.
Following the completion of his PhD, he joined the faculty at the University of Florida, where his research focuses on low-power wireless techniques, time-domain sensing, and untethered neural implants.
The Nelms Rising Star Professorship honors exceptional junior faculty members who demonstrate extraordinary professional promise and impact in their respective fields.

Chatterjee’s recent recognitions include receiving a National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2025, alongside multiple previous conference best paper honors from organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Nelms Institute for the Connected World at the University of Florida operates at the intersection of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence to tackle critical global challenges.
Guided by multidisciplinary faculty experts, the institute drives advancements across three core pillars: designing core hardware and software technology, developing novel real-world applications in fields ranging from healthcare to smart energy, and fostering comprehensive education and workforce development initiatives.
