Ohio Democratic gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton is facing a new attack over a 1993 driving conviction, with conservative activist Laura Loomer alleging that Acton failed to disclose the offense on her application for a state medical license.
Loomer made the allegations in a post on X, citing a Franklin County Municipal Court case involving “Amy L. Beech,” the name Acton used before her marriage. The case, 1993 TR D 118681, lists an offense date of May 6, 1993, and identifies the charge as “DRIVE UNDER SUSP/REV.” The record shows a first-degree misdemeanor, six points assessed, a no-contest plea and a guilty disposition dated May 20, 1993.
The court record also lists ticket number S43543 and identifies the defendant as Amy L. Beech. The case was filed in Franklin County Municipal Court and is marked closed.
Loomer said the case involved a violation of Ohio Revised Code Section 4507.02(B), which she described as driving while a license was suspended or revoked. Ohio court records from the period show that violations involving driving under suspension could be classified as first-degree misdemeanors.

The Franklin County Municipal Court says its Criminal/Traffic Department processes court records involving driver’s-license suspensions and reports applicable points to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
The second part of Loomer’s allegation concerns Acton’s 1994 application for an Ohio medical license. Loomer claims the application asked whether an applicant had ever been convicted or found guilty of a violation of federal, state or municipal law other than a minor traffic violation, and alleges Acton answered “no.”
Loomer argues that because the 1993 offense was recorded as a first-degree misdemeanor, it should have been disclosed on the medical application. However, the available sources reviewed for this report do not independently establish the complete contents of Acton’s original 1994 application or whether the alleged answer was made as Loomer described it.
Ohio’s current license database confirms that Acton, whose full name is listed as Amy Stearns Acton, has medical license number 35.066895. The license was issued June 16, 1994, and remains active, with an expiration date of July 1, 2027.
The allegations come as Acton and Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy remain in a closely watched Ohio governor’s race. Acton’s past records have become a recurring subject of Republican campaign advertising and attacks, including disputes over her medical licensing records. PolitiFact reported in September that a pro-Ramaswamy advertisement made misleading claims based on documents from Acton’s 1994 medical licensing application and later records.
Acton’s campaign has previously disputed attacks based on her medical records, saying opponents have omitted important context from documents dating back decades.
Loomer’s latest post also questions why Acton’s driver’s license was suspended in 1993. The court record reviewed does not state the reason for the underlying suspension, and Loomer’s suggestion that it may have involved impaired driving is not established by the record cited in her post.
As of publication, the available sources reviewed for this report do not establish that Acton deliberately concealed the 1993 conviction from Ohio voters or that she knowingly provided false information to the Ohio medical board. Those are allegations made by Loomer and should be distinguished from the documented court record.
