The streamer, identified online as JohnWhatsGoingOn, was reportedly filming the interaction when the confrontation escalated. Posts circulating on Reddit on October 4 alleged that the streamer had spent about 20 minutes racially harassing the men and recording them without their consent.
A widely circulated clip appears to show the streamer continuing to provoke the men before one of them approaches and slaps him.

The incident has drawn criticism online, with commenters questioning the growing practice of IRL streamers filming strangers without permission and provoking confrontations for online content. Some viewers also criticized the men involved for responding physically.
The streamer is Canadian and reportedly has Vietnamese and Laotian roots, according to discussion surrounding the incident. He appears to have been livestreaming in Vietnam at the time.
The video has renewed debate around the boundaries of IRL livestreaming, particularly when creators record strangers, use provocative language or continue filming after people object.
The sources reviewed currently show no indication that Vietnamese authorities have publicly commented on the incident. The allegations about the streamer’s conduct should therefore be treated as online claims rather than independent facts.
