Multiple shootings across the United States over Halloween weekend killed at least 13 people and injured 92 others, disrupting celebrations, college gatherings and nightlife events, according to a preliminary CNN tally.
The shootings occurred in several states, including California, Alabama, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida and Arkansas. Incidents were reported at a Halloween costume store, college-town gatherings, nightclubs and entertainment districts.
CNN’s preliminary estimate, based partly on figures from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive, is not exhaustive. The violence comes less than three weeks after a shooting at an Oregon elementary school killed three students and a teacher.
One of the deadliest incidents occurred in Dallas, where three separate shootings in the Deep Ellum entertainment district left four people dead and at least 15 injured. The gunfire began shortly after midnight on Oct. 31, with incidents reported at three locations within approximately 75 minutes.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators were examining whether the shootings were connected. Police had increased their presence in the neighborhood ahead of Halloween celebrations, but the violence continued despite the additional deployment.

Another fatal shooting occurred at a Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, Michigan, where a 21-year-old man was killed on Oct. 30.
Shootings near college events and gatherings
In Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed and eight others wounded in two shootings near Legion Field following the annual Magic City Classic football game between Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University.
Nearly 70,000 fans attended the rivalry game. Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said the shootings occurred outside the stadium after the event. A 17-year-old was taken into custody, and authorities recovered multiple weapons, according to police officials cited by the Associated Press.
Delaware also experienced two separate mass shootings on Halloween night. In Ellendale, nine people were shot at an outdoor party, and a 17-year-old girl later died from her injuries. In Newark, six people were wounded in a shooting near the University of Delaware.
In Bloomington, Illinois, a shooting near Illinois Wesleyan University killed a 19-year-old woman and injured seven others. One additional victim was reported in critical condition.
Other incidents included shootings in Bloomington, Indiana, where seven people were injured, Fayetteville, Arkansas, where six people were shot, and Edinburg, Texas, where seven people were wounded at a birthday party.

Gun violence remains a national concern
The weekend’s incidents add to the continuing toll of gun violence in the United States. The Gun Violence Archive’s ongoing tally showed nearly 400 mass shootings so far in 2026, according to CNN.
The incidents also renewed concerns about public safety at large gatherings, particularly during holidays and major sporting and entertainment events.
Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer condemned the violence in a statement, saying, “This is not normal. We must never accept gun violence as a part of life in Delaware.”
Investigations into the individual shootings were continuing, with police examining possible motives, identifying suspects and determining whether any of the incidents were connected.
The preliminary figures underscore the scale of the violence over a single holiday weekend, although authorities’ investigations and final casualty counts may change.
