An Indian restaurant in Irving, Texas, has congratulated James Talarico following his victory in the state’s U.S. Senate election, recalling a campaign visit during which the Democrat tried his hand at making masala dosa.
Madira N Masala shared the congratulatory message on its Instagram account, expressing pride in having hosted Talarico during his campaign shortly before the Nov. 3 election.
The restaurant is also marking Talarico’s victory with a buy-one-get-one-free offer on dosas for their customers.
Talarico defeated Republican Ken Paxton in the closely watched Senate contest, becoming the first Democrat to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate since 1993.
His victory also marked a significant Democratic breakthrough in a state that has long been a Republican stronghold.

The restaurant’s message recalled Talarico’s visit, particularly his experience preparing the South Indian dish behind its counter, when he stepped into the kitchen during his campaign stop and helped prepare a fresh masala dosa.
“From the campaign trail to the dosa counter, you flipped Texas blue!” Madira N Masala wrote in its post.
The restaurant described the encounter as a memorable part of its experience with the newly elected senator, praising his engagement with the community and expressing excitement over his election victory.
Talarico’s dosa-making appearance had also attracted attention right before Election Day. A video of him preparing the dish at Madira N Masala circulated on social media after being shared by WFAA, the ABC-affiliated television station in Dallas-Fort Worth.
His restaurant visit was part of his campaign activities in Irving, where he engaged with members of the Indian American community.

In its congratulatory message, Madira N Masala said it was honored to have been part of the campaign journey, while wishing Talarico success as he prepares to take office in Washington.
The restaurant also expressed its hope that he would bring the same enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to unity to his work in the Senate.
They ended the message with an invitation for another visit, offering him a complimentary meal the next time he returns to Irving.
“The next time you’re in Irving, Senator Talarico, your favorite dosa is on us!” the restaurant wrote.
The post celebrated both Talarico’s election victory and his brief appearance at the restaurant, which became a memorable moment from his Texas Senate campaign.
