MUMBAI: Viewers of Singham Returns — at select cinemas of a national multiplex chain — were surprised when they were given 3D glasses before the screening.
So, when the audience went for the action drama, they also witnessed some thrilling VFX aka Visual Effects, of the upcoming Vikram Bhatt movie- Creature 3D which sent chills down their spine. The jaw dropping 3D teaser is being shown in select cities, including Mumbai, Nagpur, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Indore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow and Surat.
Says producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, “We’re offering an edge-of-the-seat experience to our audience.” Adds director Vikram Bhatt, “This is the first time a 3D trailer is being shown with a 2D film.â€
The Bipasha Basu starrer is one the very few true blue VFX films in Bollywood. In fact, at the time of the film’s announcement itself, it was said pretty loud and clear that the genre as well as VFX in the film would be on the lines of Jurassic Park and Anaconda. Currently, Vikram is actually working on accomplishing that, now that the principle shooting is over and it is time for editing studios to take over.
While in Hollywood there exists a long list of ‘designed for VFX’ movies, the list in Indian cinema is not nearly as long. It’s only over the past few months that viewers have had the opportunity to see films like Krrish 3 and Dhoom 3 – films boasting of some heavy-duty VFX.
Bipasha insists that Creature 3D does not belong to the horror genre, of which she’s done several films.
“It’s the first Indian creature film and that was the most exciting part… also being done by Vikram Bhatt is great,” she said. “I really didn’t know where we were going to head. We shot the entire film and it was completely on the basis of trust, Now Creature has been made and it’s looking exciting.
“Anybody who thinks it’s a horror film doesn’t have the right information. It’s a film like Jurassic Park or Anaconda. It’s action-oriented and adventurous film,” she said.
Creature 3D, produced by T-Series, releases September 12.
