Advertising sales positions in big demand.

WASHINGTON, DC: In an effort to continue its ambitious growth, Facebook has posted 1,159 job openings on its corporate website.
According to a company filing from September 30, Facebook’s staff numbered 8,348 at the time. The filing also concluded that the company’s employee-base grew by a staggering 44 percent over the twelve months leading up to it.
A significant portion of the openings on Facebook’s website pertain to advertising sales; there are 126 different sales positions available at the time of publication. The company is also seeking to enlist 43 recruiters and 28 human resources workers to help accommodate the deluge of new hires.
Facebook’s growth is being fueled by its expansion into new areas. Last year it acquired Oculus Rift, the cutting-edge producer of virtual reality headsets, for $2 billion. Oculus has long been perceived as a company on the cusp of the next big thing and has 54 jobs listed on its website, according to Reuters.
Mark Zuckerberg’s efforts to initiate a system of drones that could provide internet access around the world also has his company searching for specialists in the fields of avionics, thermal engineering, and radio frequency communications.
“We are an ambitious company run by an ambitious CEO,†Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg told Reuters in an interview. “Our users are growing and our business is growing and we want to support that.”
Arvind Bhatia, a senior research analyst with Sterne, Agee & Leach, estimates Facebook’s relentless diversification could push the company’s annual revenue to $30 billion within a few years.
“To get to that level, they’re going to have to get people now,” Bhatia concluded.
