Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Tuesday announced that he will direct a biopic on legendary Telugu actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and the actor’s son Balakrishna will portray his father’s role.
“NTR is a name to reckon with every Telugu-speaking individual. He was not just a great actor but a leader with unprecedented following. I’m very proud to direct a film on his life,†IANS quoted Ram Gopal Varma.
According to the report, the movie will talk about the actor’s enemies and those who betrayed him, along with some other untold stories.
Varma, who admires NTR, told the news agency that he walked 10 kilometers each time to watch NTR’s blockbuster Adavi Ramudu and watched the film 23 times.
“I was also one among the lakhs of people who had gathered during his first political meeting, soon after he launched the Telugu Desam Party. From being a faceless guy in that large gathering, to getting to direct his life story means something,†Varma said.
NTR is the cultural icon of the Telugu states and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms.

Ram Gopal Varma last directed Sarkar 3 in Bollywood and his last Telugu directorial venture wasVangaveeti. Earlier, Varma also expressed his desire to direct a biopic on late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
