With engineering operations in Thiruvananthapuram, headquarters in New York, and an aim of hiring 20 engineers in the upcoming year, Engagespot intends to increase its North American footprint.
In a significant milestone for the IT landscape of the Indian state of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram-based startup Engagespot has become the first company from the state to gain acceptance into the prestigious Techstars New York City Accelerator Program.
A rigorous 15-week program is offered in New York by Techstars, a global leader in startup acceleration with over 4,000 alumni firms, including 150 unicorns (startups that are valued at $1 billion but are not listed on the stock market).

Because of its creative contributions to the developer tools industry, Engagespot was one of just 12 businesses worldwide to be selected.
Cofounder and CEO Shiv Shankar told the Times of India that “The Techstars Accelerator was transformative for us,” and that “In just 15 weeks, we grew revenue fivefold, achieved operational profitability, and boosted our monthly growth rate to 25%.”
Engagespot’s main aim is to streamline business communication by centralizing notifications across Slack, email, push, and SMS. By optimizing delivery channels and timing, their AI-based technology increases user engagement and lowers communication expenses by as much as 50%.
Over 2,000 developers have joined Engagespot since its 11-month inception, and the company has signed $100,000 yearly contracts with businesses like Veho, Sameday, and Nivoda.
“Testing our product with leaders from unicorn companies allowed us to iterate rapidly,” cofounder and CTO Anand Sukumaran. “The community and network we built will last a lifetime.”
With engineering operations in Thiruvananthapuram, headquarters in New York, and an aim of hiring 20 engineers in the upcoming year, the company intends to increase its North American footprint. In addition to enhancing Engagespot, this accomplishment puts Kerala’s startup scene on the global map.
