In today’s gig-driven economy, working independently is aspirational but often burdensome. Many aspire to professional independence, but for solopreneurs like private chefs and personal trainers that freedom often comes at the cost of overwhelming administrative work. Enter Cactus, an AI-driven startup emerging from Y Combinator’s Winter 2025 cohort, aiming to ease that burden and let solo professionals thrive.
Founded by longtime friends and entrepreneurs Ajith Govind and Avinash Joshi, Cactus was inspired by a personal need. As new fathers managing work and family life, they both hired personal chefs and discovered that these skilled professionals were overwhelmed —not by the work itself, but by the surrounding logistics: calls, bookings, and client communication. This pain point sparked the idea for Cactus.

Cactus functions as an AI-powered assistant designed to handle administrative tasks for service-based solopreneurs. Branded as a “Jarvis for Iron Man,” the platform manages lead qualification, appointment scheduling, and customer interactions. Users are provided with a personalized website, an AI receptionist, and an integrated booking system—tools that allow them to focus on their craft while Cactus runs their business operations in the background.
At its core, Cactus isn’t just a product, it’s a mission. Built on values of empathy, high standards, and collective growth, the startup reflects a simple but profound ethos: “Because a cactus survives where others cannot. In silence. In pressure. In scorching heat. A cactus has all the intangibles it needs to survive. To grow,” said Satheesh in a LinkedIn post.
With backing from Y Combinator and a growing user base, Cactus is positioning itself to redefine what success looks like for the one-person business. The founders’ ambition is bold: to create the tools that could empower the first billionaire solopreneur.
As Satheesh and Joshi continue their journey from overstretched dads to founders of a movement, their story stands as proof that when solopreneurs are freed from the weight of admin, they don’t just grow—they thrive.
