Nuro, a startup which develops self-driving software for delivery and ride-hailing services, has raised $203 million in its Series E funding round. AI chip giant Nvidia is among its investors, as is Uber, which last month said it would make a “multi-hundred-million dollar” investment in Nuro as part of a broader deal. This round also included participation from existing investor Baillie Gifford, and new investors Icehouse Ventures, Kindred Ventures, Nvidia, and Pledge Ventures.
Nvidia’s investment comes following years of technical collaboration with Nuro. The startup uses Nvidia GPUs for its large-scale data processing and model training, and its latest compute model is built on the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor platform.

Nuro has raised $2.3 billion to date. Its Series E post-money valuation is $6 billion, down from its $8.6 billion valuation in 2021 when Nuro raised $600 million in a Series D round.
A lot has changed for Nuro, and the broader autonomous vehicle industry in the last four years. It went through several rounds of layoffs in 2023 and 2024 before overhauling its business strategy. In 2024, Nuro scrapped plans to own and operate a fleet of low-speed, on-road delivery bots. Instead, it started focusing on its efforts on licensing its technology to automakers and mobility providers, like ride-hail and delivery companies.
In July, Uber announced plans to launch a robotaxi service using all-electric Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro’s self-driving tech. Under the deal, Uber invested $300 million in Lucid and agreed to buy “at least” 20,000 of the EV maker’s Gravity SUVs over the next six years. Uber will be locking in at least 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with Nuro’s Level 4 autonomy, and the company will be owning and operating this fleet itself through its app, essentially building a driverless ride-hailing service from the ground up. A pilot rollout is expected as early as late 2026, starting in a major U.S. city.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Nuro and Lucid on this new robotaxi program, purpose-built just for the Uber platform, to safely bring the magic of autonomous driving to more people across the world,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said about this partnership.
Uber also said it would invest an undisclosed “multi-hundred-million dollar” amount into Nuro. This amount is higher than Uber’s investment in Lucid, a source told TechCrunch.
