Social media platform Pinterest has signed a $4 billion agreement with Amazon Web Services for cloud services through 2031, marking the largest infrastructure commitment in Pinterest’s history as the company ramps up investments in artificial intelligence.
The deal extends a long-standing relationship between Pinterest and AWS that dates back to 2010. Under the agreement, Amazon’s cloud computing unit will provide Pinterest with access to custom AI-focused processors, including Graviton and Trainium chips, designed to support the company’s growing AI workloads.
Pinterest said the expanded partnership will give it greater computing flexibility and infrastructure efficiency as it develops new AI-powered features across its platform. The company plans to use AWS Trainium chips to support large language models and vision-language models that power personalized visual search, recommendation systems, and AI-assisted content discovery.

“This expanded commitment with AWS gives us the compute flexibility, hardware optionality, and infrastructure efficiency to accelerate our AI vision,” Pinterest Chief Technology Officer Matt Madrigal said in a statement.
The agreement comes as Pinterest faces increasing competition from platforms such as TikTok and Meta-owned Instagram and Facebook. The company has been investing heavily in AI tools, including enhancements to its Performance+ advertising suite, to improve user engagement and advertising performance.
Investors welcomed the announcement. Pinterest shares rose nearly 6% following the news, while Amazon shares gained about 1.5%, reflecting optimism about growing demand for cloud infrastructure and AI services.
The deal highlights the growing importance of cloud providers in the global AI race. Technology companies increasingly require vast computing resources to train and operate advanced AI models, creating major opportunities for cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

For Pinterest, the partnership is expected to support its efforts to deliver more responsive search, shopping, and discovery experiences to its global user base.
