With the introduction of its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Toronto–Delhi route on Aug. 1, Air India has announced several major enhancements to its Canada service, including a new Mumbai-Toronto route and increased premium capacity.
Beginning October 25, Air India will launch seasonal 3x weekly nonstop flights between Toronto and Mumbai, becoming the only airline operating direct service between the two cities this winter, according to an Air India news release.
The upgraded Boeing 777-300ER operating the route will feature 8 private First Class suites, 40 fully flat Business Class beds, 280 Economy seats, and onboard WiFi.

With expanded Mumbai and Delhi service, Air India will increase premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71%, offering more First Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy options.
Air India is increasing service from 7 to 10 weekly flights, with all Toronto flights transitioning to new or significantly upgraded cabin interiors by January 2027.
Together, these enhancements will add approximately 4,400 additional seats each month between Canada and India while providing travelers with an elevated onboard experience, according to the release.
In the 2026-27 Winter season, Air India will operate a total of 20 flights each week from Canada to India, including 10x weekly from Toronto to Delhi, 3x weekly from Toronto to Mumbai, and 7x weekly from Vancouver to Delhi.
“Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong demand for travel, particularly during the festive and holiday season,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India. “The launch of our seasonal Toronto-Mumbai service this Winter will provide travellers more choice and convenience at a time when many are travelling to reunite with family and friends.”

Through Air India’s hubs at Mumbai and Delhi, customers travelling from/to Canada can connect seamlessly to destinations including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara, among several other Indian cities.
