Elon Musk has warned that a Democratic sweep in the 2028 elections could mean “game over for America,” as the Tesla and SpaceX CEO steps up his financial support for Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections.
Musk has urged voters to back Republican Senate candidates, arguing that a Democratic victory across the House, Senate and presidency in 2028 could fundamentally change the country’s political system and weaken its democratic institutions.
In a series of posts on X, Musk outlined what he believes Democrats could do if they gain control of all three branches of the federal government.
“My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:

- Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
- Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority. - This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.”
In another post in the same thread, Musk warned, “It would be game over for America”.
His comments come as the billionaire continues to throw his financial weight behind Republican candidates. Musk, one of President Donald Trump’s most prominent supporters, has contributed more than $276 million to Republican-aligned political groups since July, making him a major financial backer of the party ahead of the November midterms.

The contributions come as Republicans work to retain their control of Congress. Musk had already spent nearly $300 million supporting Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, and his involvement in this election cycle has continued to draw attention.
During the summer, Musk donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund and another $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund. Both political action committees play a significant role in financing Republican candidates competing for seats in the Senate and House.
Musk’s latest warning links the outcome of the upcoming midterms to the broader political balance of power in Washington, with the billionaire arguing that maintaining Republican control of the Senate is essential to preventing what he describes as a permanent Democratic majority.
