BENGALURU: According to Artem Russakovskii, the founder of technology web site Android Police, Google might release Android Lollipop 5.1 for the Nexus device very soon.
In a post that appeared on Russakovskii’s Google+ page, he said Google will release the new updated Lollipop version first for their Nexus devices and this could start rolling out as early as this week.
The post read “The Lollipop MR1 (Android 5.1) will start rolling out to Nexus devices starting with the N7 (probably 2013) this week, barring anything unexpected.” The N7 mentioned in the post might be a reference to the second-generation Nexus 7, which could be the first Nexus device to receive the Lollipop 5.1 update.
With the kind of authority that Android Police has among people in the tech arena, the revelation of its founder is considered authentic. Rusakovskii has also confirmed that the details about the launch of Android Lollipop 5.1 come from most trusted sources. If that is true Nexus 7 will be the first /nexus smartphone to receive the Android Lollipop 5.1 update.
Even though there is no official word from Google about the launch of Lollipop 5.1 update for Nexus devices, Rusakovskii says the update will make the OS as smooth as a butter and it could come with improvements in battery life and with better user experience.
Earlier, the Vice President of Tiwanneese smartphone company HTC, Mo Versi said Google will release a maintenance update for Android Lollipop this month. Putting together both these statements we may have to conclude that Android Lollipop 5.1 update is almost on its way.
It was just a matter of time after Google announced that the company is ready with the maintenance update for Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system. There are also reports that Android 5.1 has already reached some of the Android One devices in Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. A few screenshots taken from these devices show the new additions of the OS that include quick setting toggle and quick setting option.
Among the other addition spotted was the coming back of Silent Mode, which was done away when Android 5 Lollipop was released. Also, there are improvements in general stability, RAM performance and also fixes for abrupt shutdown of apps and wireless connectivity.
