NEW DELHI: Kolkata police lodged a fraud investigation into actress Shilpa Shetty and her industrialist husband Ripu Sudan Kundra (aka Raj Kundra) of Essential Sports Private Limited, on Saturday.
According to The Hindustan Times, the FIR was initiated after a private company accused the couple of coercing them to invest Rs. 9 crore in their company with the promise of huge returns, which were not fulfilled.
Police alleged they duped an investment of Rs 9 crore from MK Media Private Limited with the inducement of 10 times return against the invested amount within 2 years.
“The Kolkata based company had paid the amount through RTGC after 30 lacs equity shares of the Mumbai based company [Essential Sports] were allotted to the Kolkata based company [MK Media]. Subsequently the complainant company detected that all those shares are false,†said an investigating officer of Shakespeare Sarani police station, the Times reported.
Police have issued sections 120B, 406, 418, 420, 388, 389, 506 of IPC in the case. MK Media had earlier filed a suit with the Kolkata High Court, reported the Times.

And also: “Seeking legal advice… He’s a defaulter & clearly a fraud going by his reputation. So annoying!â€.
