Tourism to India registered a growth of 1.7 percent.

Foreign Tourist Arrivals to India registered a growth of 1.7 percent, attracting 6.8 lakh tourists in October 2015 as compared to 6.68 lakh during the same month last year.
According to data published by the Department of Tourism, the foreign exchange earnings in Rupee terms during October 2015 registered a decline of 4.3% over October 2014, as compared to positive growth of 16.1% in October 2014 over October 2013.
Foreign exchange earnings during the month of October 2015 were 9611 crores as compared to 10041 crores in October 2014 and 8645 crores in October 2013.
Total foreign tourists who arrived during the period January-October 2015 were 62.88 lakh with a growth of 4.3%, as compared to the number of 60.28 lakh with a growth of 11.4% in January- October 2014.
The percentage share of foreign tourists who arrived during October 2015 was highest from Bangladesh (15.22%), followed by USA (12.99%), UK (11.31%), Sri Lanka (3.69%), Germany (3.62%), Canada (3.58%) and Australia (3.37%).
Delhi airport topped with 33.95% foreign tourist preference, followed by Mumbai Airport (16.90%), Haridaspur land check post (8.73%), Chennai Airport (7.50%), Bengaluru Airport (6.19%), Kolkata Airport (3.64%), and Hyderabad Airport (2.98%).
